Flying Ford has the scoring power to see off Guodong

Tom Ford doesn't win as regularly as he could but when his scoring comes together he is difficult to foil and the manner of his Betway UK Championship first-round win over Eden Sharav should be a big enough hint that he's a man in flying form.

Ford's greatest asset is his scoring power and breaks of 121, 82, 76 and 74 in his 6-1 silencing of Sharav suggest that he's in good enough nick to axe Xiao Guodong is his second-round clash.

The Chinese ace whitewashed Chen Zifan in his opener but he mustered a highest break of just 78 and gifted his compatriot with plenty of golden opportunities.

It could be costly if he is as complacent against Ford, who won their only meeting 6-0 at the Barbican six years ago.

Anthony McGill blew away Ashley Hugill in his opener on Wednesday and his tussle with the talented Iranian Hossein Vafaei could be a high-scoring affair.
