Match preview

Two former world champions clash in the Champions of Champions on Thursday, with John Higgins and Stuart Bingham promising to deliver a humdinger of a contest.

Four-times champion Higgins turned 44 in May but there has been no noticeable decline in the Scot's performances. He reached the final of the Six Reds World Championship before narrowly losing out 6-5 to Judd Trump in the semi-finals of the World Open.

Bingham lost to Higgins in the quarter-finals of the World Open but prior to that defeat the Englishman had made knocks of 86, 97, 104, 108 and 114 in a 5-2 win over top operator Mark Selby, which suggests the Basildon cueman's game is in good shape.

Higgins is rated a narrow 4-5 favourite for this clash and that looks on the mark but the 4-7 about there being at least one century in the match looks a little overpriced.

Ronnie O'Sullivan isn't expected to have any problems getting past veteran Jimmy White and the Rocket is a 1-28 shot. White is 14-1 to cause a huge upset and a 4-0 O'Sullivan win can be backed at 7-5.
