Yan Bingtao's game looked in good order in his English Open curtain-raiser and the Chinese teenager could continue to progress in Barnsley with a victory over Jamie Jones.

Jones played some of the best snooker of the 2012 World Championship on the way to reaching the quarter-finals at the Crucible, but the Welsh Warrior scales such heights infrequently and could be found wanting against his consistent opponent.

Jones was the youngest player in snooker history to make a 147 break in competition when he was just 14.

However, Yan was the same age when he was crowned world amateur champion in 2014 and he has one of the best all-round games any teenage potter has ever possessed.

The 17-year-old had few concerns in a 4-0 first-round defeat of Noppon Saengkham at the Metrodome where he posted runs of 66, 84 and 92, allowing his opponent to tally only 59 points in the clash.

The underrated Li Yuan could also make Jack Lisowski toil.

Recommendation
Yan Bingtao
