Ian Burns could be worth a handicap interest for his Betway UK Championship opener against Matt Selt on day two of the York tournament.

Burns is a former world number 60 but the Preston potter has struggled with his game in recent years.

At his best he could pose plenty of problems for Selt. But after losing to Chris Steadman, who is playing well this season, in last month's World Open, punters could only be hopeful about the chance of Burns, a good friend and one-time practice partner of former top-16 player Ian McCulloch, performing the way he used to.

Oliver Lines has a chance to post a much-needed triumph over Michael Georgiou, although it's a long time since the Leeds cueman achieved much of note and the Cypriot is loving life since moving from south-east England to Northern Ireland.
