Semi-final preview

John Higgins was able to put an unconvincing performance against Mark Allen well and truly behind him with a brilliant quarter-final win over Ronnie O'Sullivan.

A repeat of that performance should be enough to beat David Gilbert with something to spare in their Betfred Masters semi-final.

The 45-year-old Higgins rolled in three tons and looked composed in the balls during his 6-3 win over O'Sullivan.

Higgins also holds a 9-2 head-to-head advantage against Gilbert and one of the all-time greats looks back to his brilliant best as he goes in search of a third Masters title.

When to watch

BBC2 & Eurosport 1, 1pm Saturday

Adrian Humphries's best bet

Yan Bingtao
1pt 6-5 general

Semi-final preview

Yan Bingtao is getting better with experience and the 20-year-old could be good enough to worry defending Masters champion Stuart Bingham in their Milton Keynes semi-final.

There have been a spate of close matches in recent days - the Betfred-sponsored tournament has been synonymous with long clashes - and there's a good chance that this last-four tussle could go to the wire.

Bingham had too much for Shaun Murphy in their quarter-final, winning 6-3. But Yan affords a different type of test for the Essex man and while the 2015 world champion is playing well, he may still be vulnerable against the Chinese ace, whose all-round game is especially solid given his tender years.

A 141 from Yan in the decider of his 6-5 quarter-final victory over Stephen Maguire was a terrific way to notch victory and the younger player could have plenty of fuel left in the tank this weekend.

Yan leads their personal series 4-3 and has won their last three meetings going back to 2017.
