Preview

Judd Trump and Jack Lisowski were withdrawn from the Betfred Masters on Saturday following positive Covid-19 test results and have been replaced in the field by Joe Perry and Gary Wilson respectively.

Lisowski's absence has made the task ofmworld number five Kyren Wilson in his tournament opener on Sunday afternoon significantly easier as he will now face the out-of-sorts Wilson.

The Warrior reached the final of this event in 2018 and has already been in the winner's enclosure this season having beat Trump in the final of the Championship League. He is a big runner this week now the draw has opened up nicely for him.

Wilson has struggled this season and caused a stir earlier this week when he smashed the balls around the table in frustration after missing against John Higgins in the Championship League.

The world number 20 has been eliminated in the first round six times in the seven tournaments he has participated in this season and Wilson is taken to cover the handicap in a comfortable win.

World number 19 Joe Perry is a classy and experienced operator who reached the final of this event in 2017 and he should seamlessly slot into the field in place of Trump.

The 46-year-old tackles another out-of-form player in Dave Gilbert in a match that has the potential to be a edgy affair and go the distance.

Gilbert made his Masters debut 12 months ago and impressed in his run to the semi-finals. But he has progressed beyond the third round only once this season.

Perry is favoured marginally, but backing over 9.5 frames is the most appealing wager for the best-of-11 contest.
