Match preview

Scotland battled hard but were a missed kick away from beating Australia in their opening autumn Test last week. But with a game under their belts and key players available, they can see off a strong Fiji side at Murrayfield.

The absence of fly-half Finn Russell was the key talking point last week but the Scots were also without their players based at clubs in England. Full-back Stuart Hogg and fly-half Adam Hastings return to the line-up this week and the Scots look primed to produce an ambitious attacking display.

Fiji had a disappointing summer, picking up just one win in the Pacific Nations Cup, and were beaten 38-23 by Wales last autumn in their most recent clash with a tier-one side.

And although we can usually rely on a few moments of Fijian brilliance to light up the match, the visitors may lack the structure and cohesion to put Scotland on the back foot, especially at the set piece.

A handicap approaching 20 points looks high, especially if the Fijians can pull off a score or two, but a comfortable home win looks likely so a Scotland success by 11 to 20 points looks the best bet.
