Saturday's Champions Cup preview

There are some key contests in the final round of Champions Cup pool action and in the biggest clash of the day Parisian powerhouses Racing 92 need a win - but face the toughest of all tasks if they are to get it.

With just one win from three games Racing are outside the qualifying spots in Pool A, while Gloucester and Bordeaux, who lie just below them, also meet on Saturday in France and the winners of that clash will jump above them if Racing fail to pick up a point.

Racing's woes started with a shock 42-10 home upset at the hands of Leinster, and now they have to save their campaign in the return fixture in Dublin.

Leinster are flying with three wins from three and a points difference of +124, so any kind of win should ensure top seeding in the knockout stage. They are hard to oppose but a 24-point handicap against such a talented Racing side, who will surely chase bonus points to the final whistle, looks high.

Racing battled to the end last week to overcome Harlequins who are also looking over their shoulders and face a difficult clash against the Sharks.

The South African outfit have won three out of three, including a 39-31 success over Quins in Durban, and the physicality of their pack may prove key.

In Pool B the key clash is between Ulster and Sale, who lie just outside the top eight but can make the knockout stages if Clermont lose to the Stormers in Cape Town.

Ulster stunned 39-0 at Sale in round one but have since had two close battles with champions La Rochelle and will be fired up for a strong performance in front of their own fans. It should be a fierce contest but the hosts can come out on top.
