Preview

Bristol look to be over their Premiership blip but hosts Bath should be able to grind out another Rec triumph.

Bath have beaten Quins, Leicester and Sale by a combined total of 12 points in their last three home league matches and have lost only one of their last six. Their last four league wins have all been by a single-figure margin.

The Bears routed their West Country rivals at Ashton Gate in round one and have won their last three in the league.

But they capitalised on two bouts of Northampton slackness at Franklin's Gardens a fortnight ago and only edged out Worcester at home last week.

The impressive individual stats of number eight Nathan Hughes and full-back Charles Piutau underline why Bristol are in the playoff places and pushing hard for European Challenge Cup glory.

However, that Ashton Gate encounter is one of only two occasions in the Premiership that Bath have conceded a try bonus and they can sneak past the Bears into the top four with a narrow win.

In the Pro14, Connacht should maintain hopes of a top-three Conference B finish by inflicting a 12th defeat of the campaign on the Kings. But the Galway gang's poor recent form means that a watching brief on the Port Elizabeth proceedings is advised.
