Match preview

Franklin's Gardens is sold out for Northampton's East Midlands derby clash with Leicester, and although the rival clubs are at opposite ends of the Premiership table, this could be a close-fought battle.

The Saints are second in the standings with three wins out of four while the Tigers, with just one win, lie second from bottom and are only out of the relegation slot thanks to Saracens' 35-point deduction.

Leicester's poor start is a continuation of the end of last season, when they lost six of their seven closing fixtures, although there were positive noises coming from the camp after European wins over Pau and Cardiff, it was only the Challenge Cup and there will be a big step up in intensity this weekend.

This single round of Premiership action is squeezed between four rounds of European action and it would be no surprise if Northampton's focus is still very much on the Champions Cup.

They needed a last-gasp penalty to overcome Benetton in Italy last week and now have back-to-back fixtures against mighty Leinster on the horizon.

Leicester have all their World Cup contingent back now, with Jonny May and Manu Tuilagi starting in the backline, plus a strong pack and they will be in a mood to put up a fight. An eight-point handicap looks worth taking.

Glasgow v Leinster

Where to watch

Premier Sports 2, 7.35pm

Best bet

Glasgow -3

Match preview

The game of the day in the Pro14 features two much changed line-ups but Glasgow look to have more experience and international class in their ranks.

With a pair of Champions Cup fixtures either side of this match it is no surprise to see Leinster shuffle their entire starting line-up and bring in a number of fringe players.

Glasgow retain only six starters from their defeat to Glasgow last weekend but Jonny Gray makes his first start in the pack, while half-backs Ali Price and Pete Horne have more than 70 Scotland caps between them.

The Warriors have had a patchy start to the season but have won their last two league games as well as edging Sale in the Champions Cup at home, and this is an opportunity to boost their confidence and league standing.
