Scarlets would have had high hopes of making the Pro12 playoffs this season after a superb start last campaign and an impressive summer recruitment drive. But plenty has gone wrong for the west Wales outfit so far in a home defeat by Munster and an away loss at Edinburgh and an upturn in fortunes is unlikely in Belfast tonight, where they get a ten-point start.

Ulster love playing at night at the Kingspan Stadium. They opened up with a try-bonus home success over the Dragons. And while they followed up with only a hard-fought win at Treviso, the fact that neither game was a romp should mean they are focused again rather than complacent.
