Northampton and London Irish, who meet in the Premiership on Friday evening, are both knocking on the door of the playoff positions but are yet to put together a decent run that could seal a top-four spot.

The Saints were 62-14 winners against bottom side Worcester in their last Premiership outing but before that had won just once in four matches while they were beaten at home by Ulster in Europe last weekend.

Irish were also knocked out of the Challenge Cup, losing 26-13 at Bath, and they have won just once on the road this season, against out-of-sorts Wasps in February.

The Exiles are hard to keep down though and have rewarded their handicap backers in seven of their last ten Premiership matches.

The line is set at six or seven points for this clash and the best bet may be that hosts Northampton edge a victory - four of their six Premiership wins have been by a margin of one to 12 points.
