Edinburgh suffered a surprising defeat at Zebre last Saturday but they are taken to get back on track in Pro14 Conference B with a narrow home win over Scarlets.
Richard Cockerill’s charges are enjoying life at Murrayfield with their six home wins on the spin in all competitions, including a 52-14 success over the Welsh outfit in April and a 40-14 triumph over Toulon in the Champions Cup a fortnight ago.
However, their three league wins on home turf this term have all been hard-fought and the absence of their internationals, could threaten their continuity.
Connacht and Benetton picked up losing bonus-points for staying within seven while the Cheetahs worried them with back-to-back tries before falling away 37-21.
Even shorn of their in-favour stars, Scarlets are likely to be solid at the set-piece and a threat with ball in hand.
Ospreys defied the absence of their Wales contingent to beat Connacht last Friday in Bridgend and they look worth supporting with a four-point start back at the Liberty Stadium against Conference A-topping Glasgow.
Second-placed Ospreys startled a stronger-looking Connacht with two early Keelan Giles tries and then, once the Galway Gang had drawn level, they delighted the Brewery Field with a last-play try.
The Warriors were magnificent for the first hour at Munster last Saturday but were worn down for a 25-24 defeat and they may not be at their sharpest as that Thomond Park tussle followed two gruelling European games.
In the televised Premiership Cup clash at Ashton Gate, the value may lie in Bristol with a start of eight from Gloucester.
Both sides are mix-and-match in keeping with the cup’s ethos so while the Cherry & Whites won their opener with Wasps well and the Bears were beaten at Northampton, it would not surprise if Premiership Shield form proves a good guide too.
Bristol have a win in that and can be competitive.
