Match preview

Georgia have longed to be accepted at European rugby's top table but they now face their fourth consecutive match against tier-one opposition - and against a strong and wounded Ireland team.

Ireland were famously made to battle for a 14-10 victory over Georgia during their poor 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign but three meetings in Dublin have brought home wins by 42, 49 and 70 points and a wide-margin success is anticipated once again.

The handicap has been set in the high 30s but Georgia have lost to England and Scotland by more than that margin - their 18-0 defeat to Wales came against a much-changed and youthful line-up - and crucially the visitors have looked toothless in attack, posting just seven points in three matches, all against Scotland.

There's a new face at fly-half for Ireland as Billy Burns makes his first start but otherwise it's a familiar line-up and Ireland have no qualms about putting up big scores on lesser teams.

They scored 50 points against Italy last month, beat Samoa 47-5 and Russia 35-0 at the 2019 World Cup, where they also suffered a shock defeat to hosts Japan, and saw off the USA 57-14 in their last home autumn international in 2018.
