Match preview

The first few weeks of the Premiership have been a crazy time of big scores and astonishing fightbacks, and in a desperately difficult game to call, backing another rollercoaster game might be the best approach.

Harlequins are seven-point favourites at home to Northampton on Sunday, but Quins were 31-7 down at half-time against Exeter last week before taking the lead late on only to be overhauled with the clock in the red.

That was typical of the fare we have been served up in the first three weeks of the Premiership, but although the drama probably won't carry on all year, Quins have have failed to win the first half in seven of their last eight league games.

Saints' sharp attack put them 21-10 up against champions Leicester last week before the Tigers turned the screw through their pack, and they showed their attacking threat in that game through the running of George Furbank and Tommy Freeman.

It's hard to see that potent Saints attack being shut out by a leaky Quins defence but the fitness of Harlequins' players has also been noticeable this season - 64 of the 109 points they have scored this season have come after the break.

Neither of these sides have yet shown enough steel to make the top four and this doesn't look a match in which to put great faith in either side, so taking a tilt at a big price looks the best approach.
