Australia are next to face the might of England at the Women’s Rugby World Cup and the Wallaroos should be concerned that their quarter-final opponents are yet to hit their stride.

The Red Roses have been a little disjointed to date, that’s despite recording wins over Fiji and South Africa by margins of 65 and 75 points in the pool stage in between a hard fought victory over France.

Coach Simon Middleton has reshuffled his backline for the last-eight clash in the hope of a more fluid performance, although the tournament favourites may be wise continuing to lean on a forward group who scored a dozen tries in the win over South Africa.

Stopping the monstrous England pack will be a huge test for an Australia side who still carries amateur status.

Australia have competed well at the World Cup, edging out Wales and Scotland in the pool stage to advance to the quarters, but ill discipline and a lack of conditioning could see them brushed aside if England click into gear.

Sunday’s other quarter-final is a North American derby as the United States take on Canada, who are 13-point favourites having already beaten their neighbours handily twice this year.
