Boat Race preview

Size isn't everything but added ballast in the Oxford boat should ensure the Dark Blues end their losing streak in the men's Boat Race on Sunday.

The Oxford eight, looking to snap a three-year losing streak and bolstered by Tokyo Olympics' double sculls finalists Barnabe Delarze and Roman Roosli at three and five, are 35kg heavier than their varsity rivals.

And with a favourable forecast and buoys to separate the crews for the first time ensuring a cleanly rowed race, Oxford can take full advantage and row to victory.

The men's race starts at 3.23pm, live on BBC Oone, and follows the women's race, in which Cambridge are rock-solid favourites to make it five in a row.

The competition is back on the Championship Course for the first time since 2019. It was cancelled in 2020 and last year's race was held on Cambridge water on a three-mile stretch of the Great Ouse.
