Sunderland v Coventry
3pm Saturday
Life at Sunderland has not gone well for Phil Parkinson during his nine matches in charge.
They have won only twice, been knocked out of three cup competitions and face a tricky match against Coventry at the Stadium of Light in Sky Bet League One.
Sunderland have claimed maximum points on seven occasions this term and six of those were against the lesser lights in League One - Rochdale (16th), Tranmere (18th), Accrington (19th), AFC Wimbledon (20th), MK Dons (21st) and Southend (22nd) - as well as one victory of note, a 2-1 home success over poor starters Portsmouth.
The Black Cats have scored more than once in only two of their last ten league games and it is therefore difficult to trust them around evens for the visit of third-placed Coventry.
Mark Robins' outfit have lost only twice in the league this season and both were in ridiculous circumstances.
A catalogue of calamities cost them in a 4-0 defeat at Rotherham which was too bad to be true and their 1-0 loss to Tranmere was ridiculous. They won the shot count 19-3 and had more than 70 per cent possession before being hit by a late sucker punch.
Having drawn at Peterborough, Oxford and Portsmouth there is no reason for them to fear the trip to Wearside.
Accrington v Bolton
3pm Saturday
Bolton are back with a positive points difference for now at least - there is a strong suggestion they will be hit hard for failing to fulfil fixtures during the dark days - but Keith Hill's side will have taken plenty of confidence from wiping out the negativity.
Hill's side have lost only three of their last 11 games and won four of the last five, including a couple of impressive results in beating Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood.
Bolton now possess a decent side with Daryl Murphy up front and plenty of strong midfield options in Liam Bridcutt and Jason Lowe.
The current team is nothing like the mess Wanderers were earlier in the season and their big away following could make it feel like a home game at the Crown Ground.
Accrington have failed to score in their last four league matches and managed only nine shots on target in those fixtures.
Leyton Orient v Forest Green
3pm Saturday
It has been a tough season for Leyton Orient after the death of popular manager Justin Edinburgh and they have found it hard to replace him.
Ross Embleton is back in temporary charge, replacing the sacked Carl Fletcher who lasted only 29 days. Fletcher's side were knocked out of the FA Cup by eighth-tier Maldon & Tiptree United and failed to win any matches when he was in charge.
Saturday's performance when losing 2-0 to Scunthorpe was poor and it is debatable as to whether they should be ranked as likely as Forest Green to win their match.
Rovers are 11 points superior and performances have picked up from earlier in the season when Forest Green were definitely riding their luck.
All of Rovers' defeats this season have come against top-half opponents and Orient, for the time being at least, are definitely not top-half material.
Torino v Inter
Premier 1, 7.45pm Saturday
Torino's 4-0 thrashing of ten-man Brescia last time out should be taken with a pinch of salt. Two soft penalties and a red card made life a lot easier but this is still the same side who were recently beaten convincingly by leaders Juventus and third-placed Lazio.
Second-placed Inter head to Turin refreshed by the international break and ready to maintain their 100 per cent home record.
Inter's front two of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez could be the difference for Antonio Conte's side. Lukaku has nine Serie A goals and Martinez is going to become a global star.
Weekend accumulators
Banker
Inter 17-20
The Milan giants have won ten of their 12 league games this season and that includes six straight road triumphs in which they have scored at least twice. Expect them to turn over Torino.
Blowout
Aston Villa 11-10
Apart from the Norwich shambles in August, Newcastle have lost only to teams in the top six and they can avoid defeat at Villa Park. The Magpies have hit 18 shots on target in their last two games.
Accumulator
Brentford 8-11, Fleetwood 8-15, Inter 17-20, Hoffenheim 13-20. £1 accumulator returns £8.08 with bet365.
Both teams to score
Games at Atalanta 11-17, Betis 4-6, Sassuolo 10-17. £1 treble returns £4.36 with RedZone.
Thought for the week
Thanks for the memories, Mauricio.
There were no trophies but a minor cup here or there would not have made that much difference to what was a hugely pleasurable spell at Tottenham.
You don't support a team for the trophies anyway. It's the fun, it's the misery, the moments - good and bad - and under Pochettino it was an absolute blast.
Watching a young team develop with one of your own banging in the goals was a real thrill and there was a time during Pochettino's reign when Spurs were the best team in the country.
It was classic Spurs that the golden period was stretched over two seasons so no silverware followed, however who really thought Tottenham could later reach a Champions League final? That was a dream for other fans.
The atmosphere sizzled for the home leg with Manchester City and the return game nearly gave me a heart attack.
Then there was Amsterdam with Poch on his knees crying, while ace radio presenter Danny Kelly sent me a picture of himself in tears and I was close to sobbing too. Not least when checking the prices of flights to the final.
The sun shone and the beer flowed in Madrid and after a long day I tried to hug Michael McIntyre. You don't get that in the Carabao Cup.
