Manchester United to beat Wolves. I thought United would be a good deal shorter than they are. They are in good form - they were in total control for most of the game at Watford last Saturday, winning 2-1, and then had little trouble seeing off Young Boys in the Champions League. Wolves have begun their season well but this is a massive step up in class for them.

2 Most vulnerable favs?

Tottenham at Brighton. Albion’s home record since they got promoted has been more than impressive and they have already seen off Manchester United at the Amex. They look comfortable in their surroundings and Spurs won’t relish this trip after suffering the way they did in Milan in the week.

3 Should Spurs be concerned by recent results?

Something’s not right at the club. They have a very good first team but you need competition and it’s just not there. Pochettino’s failure to bring in any new players over the summer is now looking more and more like a seriously misguided policy and I can see this situation spiralling out of control.

4 The Premier League Golden Boot market looks wide open – where is the value?

Romelu Lukaku. Harry Kane has hit a brick wall while Mo Salah was always going to struggle to match last season’s heroics. Sergio Aguero is probably short enough given injuries and rotation at Manchester City so Lukaku is the pick. The Belgian is in cracking form and there is no way Jose Mourinho will leave him out.

5 What caught your eye on matchday one of the Champions League?

Any side who can go to the Etihad and win have made a statement so Lyon’s 2-1 victory there was magnificent. They have stolen a march on Shakhtar and Hoffenheim in a group where predicting second spot had looked seriously difficult. City are now in trouble given the calibre of their opponents and the fact that they have got three away games left.

6 Give us the winner of the EFL Cup

Liverpool are a big price on the grounds that they’ve got Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri will both make changes which makes it hard to call, but Liverpool need to win trophies and the League Cup is as good as any. There are only four per season so why not have a go? At a far fancier price I could make a case for Leicester.
