Man City's Spanish star is one to watch this season
Can somebody please give Arsene Wenger a job?
It doesn't have to be an official one. He could just be a sounding board at Arsenal for Mikel Arteta just as Sir Alex Ferguson is for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Who knows, he could be able to tempt Thierry Henry back for another stint as Ferguson reportedly did with Cristiano Ronaldo.
But this job for Wenger could be in McDonald's for all I care just as long as he is ousted as Fifa's head of global development.
Actually, don't get him in at McDonald's, he'll probably get rid of chicken nuggets or something equally stupid.
Wenger's Fifa job doesn't sound like a proper one because it isn't and that's why he is getting most things wrong. The Frenchman is trying too hard - wanting to change the the offside rule, ditching throw-ins and now pushing for a biennial World Cup.
There is may be some mileage in reducing the number of qualifying dates, with matches played in the same month, which is a decent Wenger idea.
If they can get groups down to four teams as suggested it could be played in October and would be done in three weeks.
Players have a few days' rest and then it's club football all the way until maybe a friendly round in March where any outstanding competitions playoffs could also take place every other year for World Cup or Euros.
Thankfully, the proper stuff is back this weekend, albeit there is another break on the horizon, and little jumps out from a difficult Premier League slate.
Instead, it could be worth backing Ferran Torres each-way to be the Premier League's top goalscorer at 25-1.
The market has a big-four feel to it as Romelu Lukaku, Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah understandably take up a large chunk of the book.
Torres has started all three matches this season as the central striker and he hinted at a potential change of position in the summer, even before the botched attempt to sign Kane as well as the Ronaldo deal being gazumped by United.
"I have to say I feel very comfortable playing as a number nine," said the converted winger. "I've learnt a lot of movements as a striker. How to make runs in behind the defence, which is key to give options."
Torres has looked lively throughout and scored twice against Arsenal. He also has ten goals in 20 matches for Spain and with Gabriel Jesus admitting he wants to play as a winger there really are not many other options for Guardiola to play as the focal point.
City will always create chances and it looks as if the market is yet to fully catch up with the new position for Torres, who scored a hat-trick against Newcastle in May. Afterwards Guardiola said: "Ferran's so young and clinical. He was bought as a winger but we think he’s a striker."
Guardiola has possibly been planning this for a while. Take the hint and back the improving 21-year-old each-way.
