MK Dons v Wycombe

MK Dons have boosted their Sky Bet League One survival hopes with four victories from their last five home matches and they look worthy favourites to topple second-placed Wycombe this weekend.

There is still plenty of work for fourth-bottom MK Dons to do. They are six points outside the drop zone having played two games more than third-bottom Tranmere.

But they have improved since rookie manager Russell Martin was appointed in November and they are playing particularly well at home.

Martin's side posted eye-catching December victories over promotion-chasers Oxford (1-0) and Portsmouth (3-1) and will be in good spirits after coming from behind to win 2-1 at home to relegation rivals Rochdale on Tuesday.

Their squad was heavily stretched by injuries earlier in the campaign but the situation is brighter now and there was more good news on Tuesday with influential defender Jordan Moore-Taylor making his first appearance since November.

The Dons are going the right way and should offer a stern test to Wycombe, who seem to have forgotten how to play on the road.

Gareth Ainsworth's highflyers have lost their last four away games without scoring and may have to stomach another poor result.

Accrington v Wimbledon

Accrington have been dragged into the League One relegation battle after taking one point from five games and they look opposable odds-on favourites at home to fellow strugglers Wimbledon.

John Coleman's Stanley play some nice football and their 37-goal tally is the highest in the bottom half.

But their ten-goal centre-forward Colby Bishop has missed the last two games through injury and talented winger Sean McConville (Achilles) will not feature again this season.

They lacked a cutting edge when losing 2-0 at home to Peterborough on Tuesday and may need to tighten up defensively if they are to stop the rot.

However, a first clean sheet in seven games looks unlikely against Wimbledon, who are continuing to score goals despite the departure of injured Brentford loanee Marcus Forss.

Wombles' striker Joe Pigott has upped his game, scoring four goals in his last six appearances, and can help the Londoners stretch their unbeaten sequence to three games.

Port Vale v Salford

Salford have splashed the cash in an effort to mount a push towards the Sky Bet League Two playoffs and they look overpriced to defeat Port Vale in the Potteries.

Eight points separate 12th-placed Salford from the top seven but they have made progress, taking seven points from their last three matches.

The Ammies have won three of their last four away games and were 4-0 victors at Cambridge on Tuesday.

It should not be a great surprise to see Salford improving because they have significantly enhanced their squad with the captures of three players from the division above.

Winger Bruno Andrade and midfielder Michael O'Connor were snapped up from Lincoln in permanent deals and Fleetwood winger Ash Hunter arrived on loan, increasing the quality and experience available to manager Graham Alexander.

With the group they have assembled, Salford should be competitive against any League Two opponents.

They look the likelier winners against inconsistent Port Vale, who have not achieved back-to-back wins since November.

Crawley v Scunthorpe

John Yems was handed a new contract as Crawley manager this week and he can celebrate by steering the Red Devils to a home victory over Scunthorpe.

While Crawley have signalled their satisfaction with Yems, Scunthorpe have decided to go in a different direction by relieving Paul Hurst of his managerial duties on Wednesday.

The Iron's board reacted the morning after Scunthorpe's 3-0 loss at Northampton which left the club 14 points adrift of the top seven.

Scunny's hopes of promotion are remote and their problems could be exacerbated by 13th-placed Crawley, who are going from strength-to-strength under Yems.

The Red Devils deservedly drew 2-2 at highflying Plymouth on Tuesday, making it just one defeat in eight games, and they look overpriced to cap off the week with a home win.

Accumulator

Leeds 2-5, Oxford 10-11, Rotherham 10-11, Swindon 23-20. £1 accumulator returns £10.98 with Coral.

First scorer

Adam Armstrong (Middlesbrough v Blackburn)
1pt 9-1 general

Blackburn needed to find other sources of goals after losing top scorer Bradley Dack to a long-term injury and Adam Armstrong has stepped up to the plate. The 22-year-old has netted three goals in his last four games and looks the main danger to Middlesbrough at the Riverside.
