Hertha Berlin v Borussia Monchengladbach
Lucas Tousart and Rune Jarstein are among the players who have been back in training for Hertha Berlin this week but even with a fully fit side, they could struggle to overcome Borussia Monchengladbach at the Olympiastadion on Saturday.
Hertha have shown signs of a turnaround in fortunes - they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 last time out - but there is no getting away from the fact they have lost five of their opening eight Bundesliga encounters.
They look far more likely to be embroiled in a relegation battle than to push for European qualification this season and opponents Gladbach could simply be too strong.
The Foals are still missing highly sought-after forward Marcus Thuram but have nonetheless looked dangerous in the attacking third, recording big wins over Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg recently.
And even in their draw with Stuttgart last time out, they had managed 31 shots and they are a value bet to win this one.
Marseille v PSG
Paris Saint-Germain have been pushed in each of their last two games against Rennes, who beat them 2-0, and Angers, who they defeated 2-1 courtesy of an 87th-minute penalty, and they will not have an easy ride against Marseille either.
With five wins from nine games and the prolific Arkadiusz Milik back in the starting line-up, Marseille have a great chance of securing a Champions League berth in Ligue 1 this season.
And fresh from holding Lazio to a 0-0 draw in Rome on Thursday, they can make life difficult for PSG, who have seen under 3.5 goals in seven of their last eight assignments.
Although PSG still look the bet to win this contest with nine wins from ten league affairs and Lionel Messi starting to impress, backing them to prevail in a game featuring fewer than four goals could be the way to go.
Atletico Madrid v Real Sociedad
El Clasico is the most attractive La Liga contest on Sunday but this game comes a close second as two of the division's leading lights clash at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Real Sociedad went top of the standings with a 1-0 win over Mallorca last weekend but left it until the 90th minute to strike the winner and had been held to stalemates by Monaco and Getafe beforehand.
And they could struggle to find a way through Atletico, who have had an additional week's rest and did not have to travel for the midweek Champions League defeat to Liverpool.
Atleti are progressing steadily, have beaten Milan and Barcelona recently and have more experience of big assignments like these under Diego Simeone. They are a solid bet to come out on top.
