Match preview
The final game of the NFL regular season looks set to be a sizzler - and it could see San Francisco drop from being first seeds for the NFC playoffs to fifth.
If the 49ers win in Seattle, they will be the NFC West champions and have home advantage throughout the playoffs. But if the Seahawks secure a home victory, they will take the division and the 49ers will be back in action next week at Dallas or Philadelphia in the wildcard round.
San Francisco looked an impressive unit earlier in the season when their marauding defence set the tone and tight end George Kittle was leading the way on offence.
But their home defeat by Seattle after an 8-0 start was the first of three defeats which have left them vulnerable to a sucker punch should they fall again at what will be a loud CenturyLink Field.
Their defensive performances have dipped. They have conceded 106 points in their last three games as injuries have affected them and absences on their offensive line are hurting too.
The Seahawks' injuries have been concentrated at running back, where issues for Chris Carson and CJ Prosise have led to the much-anticipated return this week of free agent Marshawn Lynch, who has not played since Week Six of last season.
Three of Seattle's four defeats this season have come at home - including last week's worrying 27-13 humbling by Arizona, who beat them fair and square - while the 49ers have won six of seven on the road.
But the Seahawks look the sensible pick with a decent handicap start at home in what could be a thrilling finale.
