Game preview

Rivals Oakland and Kansas City clash as they continue to fight for top spot in the AFC West, and the Raiders could keep pace with their opponents at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Raiders were crushed 34-3 by the Jets last week in a game where their offence failed to show any spark. Quarterback Derek Carr could manage only 127 passing yards, while running back Josh Jacobs was held to 34 rushing yards from ten carries.

However, they had won their previous three games and layers may be overreacting to that defeat by giving them such a big start as the Chiefs have been underwhelming recently.

Having been expected to dominate as they did last year, Kansas City have a 7-4 record and haven’t won back-to-back games since September.

They made hard work of their victory over the LA Chargers in Mexico two weeks ago when, despite opposing quarterback Philip Rivers throwing four interceptions, they prevailed only 24-17 after the Chargers nearly took the game to overtime.

The Chiefs offence should be in full swing but given their weakness in defence, where they rank third-worst against the run, Oakland are likely to bounce back from their lacklustre effort last week and keep things competitive.
