The phrase ‘any given Sunday’ hasn’t been more apt in this NFL season than it was in Week Nine when the underdogs enjoyed their time in the sun, going 10-4 against the spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Football Team

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers have had two weeks to sit and stew over their shock loss to the New Orleans Saints, and Washington are in danger of reaping the whirlwind.

Tampa Bay are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games following an outright loss, while there has never been a better quarterback than Tom Brady when it comes to bouncing back, the seven-time Super Bowl winner going 51-14 in the match after a defeat.

Washington have covered the spread only once all season and are struggling on both sides of the ball, giving up over 30 points a game on defence.

The offence has managed to score fewer than 14 points per game during their ongoing four-game losing run, leaving the Football Team in danger of being on the wrong end of a hiding.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

The Jaguars pulled off the biggest upset of the season when they shut down and beat the Buffalo Bills 9-6 last week but looked primed to regress when they face the Colts.

Jacksonville’s defence did a great job of keeping the Bills under wraps but haven't shown that level of play often, while the offence remains a major concern, averaging less than 17 points a game across the season. They face a tough test against a Colts defence ranked 11th in weighted DVOA.

After a slow start, the Colts are on a roll, winning three of their last four and averaging 34.25 points per game in that time.

Quarterback Carson Wentz looks settled in this offence, running back Jonathan Taylor has been unstoppable in recent weeks and they should have T Y Hilton back for this game.

Indianapolis have covered on both occasions they’ve been a double-digit favourite this season and can bring the Jaguars back down to earth.

Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have won four straight to force their way into the playoff picture but have failed to impress in most of those victories, particularly on offence.

Pittsburgh are still to crack the 30-point mark this year and, as a consequence of their toothless attack, they have yet to win a game by more than eight points.

The Steelers have failed to cover the spread in their last eight games as a favourite and the door is open to a frisky Lions side. Detroit might be winless after eight games but they have at least been competitive in the majority of outings, going 4-4 against the spread.

They enter this game after a bye week which has allowed a few of their key players to get healthy and they could expose a Pittsburgh defence that hasn’t been as good as advertised.

Philadelphia Eagles at Denver Broncos

Like the Jaguars, Denver are another team primed for a letdown after their shock win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week Nine. The Eagles match up well against a Broncos team that has struggled to stop the run all year.

Denver have allowed 5.1 yards per carry in their last three games and Philadelphia are likely to run it down their throats having piled up the yards on the ground in last week’s loss to the LA Chargers.

Despite the defeat, Philadelphia came out of that game with plenty of credit and they have enjoyed life on the road this year, all three of their wins coming on their travels.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts has look more polished in recent outings, posting his highest QB rating since Week One against the Chargers, and the Eagles have enough about them to push Denver close.
