Washington Football Team at Green Bay Packers
6pm Sunday
Green Bay started this week as ten-point favourites for the visit of the Washington Football Team but that number has slowly come down and they now look eminently backable giving up less than a touchdown.
The Packers have covered the spread in their last five outings, all of which they have won, and they have the best home record in the NFL since the start of the 2019 season, going 16-2 in that time.
Aaron Rodgers has put his off-field issues to one side and has looked dialled in, while the Packers have an underrated rushing game with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion piling up 154 yards in the Week Six win in Chicago.
Washington are 1-5 against the spread this year, thanks in large part to a defence giving up a league-worst 31 points per game.
They were cut apart by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes last Sunday and could suffer a similar fate at the hands of Rodgers. The offence hasn’t been performing much better, failing to get in the Kansas City redzone.
They look ill-equipped to keep up with the Packers if Rodgers flexes his muscles, with quarterback Taylor Heinicke’s time in the spotlight coming to a close barring a massive improvement.
Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins
6pm Sunday
Cordarrelle Patterson has carved out a big role for himself in the Atlanta offence and he should be a key part of their gameplan for the trip to Miami, despite Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage returning to action. Patterson has been the Falcons swiss army knife, operating as a running back but proving a vital cog in the passing game.
Patterson has had 58 or more receiving yards in each of his last three games and quarterback Matt Ryan is unlikely to deviate away from one of his favourite targets even with Ridley back in the mix.
Miami have struggled against the pass all season and are giving up an average of 45.7 passing yards to running backs this term.
Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans
6pm Sunday
The Chiefs' trip to Tennessee promises plenty of points judging by the total line of 57.5 and that may open the door for Darrell Williams to register his fifth touchdown of the season.
With Clyde Edwards-Helaire still out of action, Williams will be Kansas City’s lead back for the second game running and proved effective in last week’s win at Washington, turning 21 rushing attempts and three targets into 89 yards and two TDs.
Despite the litany of options at his disposal, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes looked to Williams regularly in the red zone at Washington as he racked up six targets.
Tennessee’s defence is one of the weaker units in the league and having given up five touchdowns to running backs this year already, there’s some value in Williams’ price to bag.
Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams
Sunday 9.05pm
Matthew Stafford suffered years of frustration in Detroit and could take that out on his old club when they visit Los Angeles. The Lions and Rams swapped quarterbacks in the offseason and while Jared Goff has stuttered in Motor City, Stafford is thriving in his new surroundings.
Stafford is the highest rated quarterback in the league, according to ESPN, throwing for 16 touchdowns in the Rams’ 5-1 start to the season.
The 33-year-old has thrown for over 300 yards three times this year and could have probably passed that total in last week’s 38-11 thumping of the New York Giants had coach Sean McVay not called off the dogs. The winless Lions aren’t doing anything well, including defending the pass, and Stafford should make a statement.
