It has been one disaster after another this season for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Since going 2-2 and having running back Melvin Gordon finally return to the fold after an unsuccessful contract holdout, they have lost their last three games, each with its own sting.

They made a nightmare start to their divisional clash with Denver, going 17-0 down at half-time and leaving too much to do, and did the same the following week as they lost 24-17 to a Pittsburgh team playing their third-choice quarterback.

Last week against Tennessee they put the ball in the end zone twice in the last minute but both were chalked off after reviews showed the ball didn’t break the plane of the goalline, and Gordon then fumbled as they bafflingly lost 23-20.

However, it is worth noting that each of their five defeats have come by less than one score, and Anthony Lynn’s team retain some of the ability that saw them reach the divisional round of the AFC playoffs last season.

To return to that peak, they need running backs Gordon and Austin Ekeler to come out firing against a Chicago rush defence that has shown signs of weakness lately.

In London the Bears allowed Josh Jacobs to run for 123 yards and two touchdowns as they lost to Oakland, while Latavius Murray put up similar numbers for the Saints last week. He also scored twice in a 36-25 defeat that flattered the Bears.

Chicago have not been as impressive as they were last season and, like the Chargers, there is pressure on Matt Nagy’s side to return to winning ways.

That could make for a close affair and it’s worth backing LA with the points.

Arizona Cardinals +10.5 v New Orleans Saints

New Orleans have consistently overcome injuries and obstacles to earn a 6-1 record, but there is reason to believe Arizona can keep things competitive at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

After a tough start the Cardinals have won their last three games, each within one score, but their ability to move the ball and convert it into points has been impressive.

They have scored at least 26 points in those three victories, and running back Chase Edmonds broke out in a big way last week with three touchdowns against the Giants.

While the Saints are likely to have too much for Arizona all of their wins have been by 11 or fewer points, and the Cardinals have the firepower to keep things respectable.

Over 17.5 Denver Broncos points v Indianapolis Colts

Things haven’t been easy for Denver this season but they should be able to give their fans something to cheer about against Indianapolis.

Vic Fangio’s offence has operated well at times, largely due to their running back tandem of Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman, who have scored five touchdowns between them in as many games.

While the Colts defence has been a key factor behind their 4-2 record, that hasn’t stopped them giving up scores, with opponents racking up 17 points or more on five occasions this season.

Denver should be capable of continuing that trend at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Ty Johnson to score a touchdown in NY Giants at Detroit Lions

Detroit placed running back Kerryon Johnson on injured reserve following knee surgery this week, and Ty Johnson is likely to carry the load when they take on the Giants.

New York have given up six rushing touchdowns in their last two games and Johnson looks a decent price to add to that total in what could be a high-scoring game.
