Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens

Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson enter Week Four first and fourth in the MVP betting after explosive starts to the season.

Jackson, the Ravens quarterback and AFC player of the month for September, leads the number-one ranked offence in the league according to Football Outsiders’ DVOA standings.

Baltimore are averaging 33 points per game, which is no fluke given their expected points per play average of 0.188 is second only to Kansas City (0.202).

The Bills rank fourth in that particular metric and although their attack wilted in the Miami sunshine in the second half of last week’s loss to the Dolphins, Allen can carve up a Baltimore defence who have allowed opponents a league-high 458 yards per game on average.

With the Bills defence potentially missing several key players from their secondary, expect these two brilliant offences to go blow for blow.

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Jets should have first-choice quarterback Zach Wilson available for the first time this season when they make the trip to Pittsburgh, but it could be a rough return for the 23-year-old against a good Steelers defence.

Wilson sat out the first three games with a knee injury but he may not be an upgrade on back-up Joe Flacco for the Jets, who have been outclassed by Baltimore and Cincinnati and narrowly beaten the Browns in between. Wilson, who looked poor in pre-season in any case, won’t be helped by a decimated Jets offensive line which could be ground into submission by the Steelers.

Pittsburgh’s offence showed signs of improvement in their Week Three loss to Cleveland which makes a handicap line of just three points hard to ignore. The Steelers have covered in three of their last four home games, while the Jets are 3-6 against the spread in their last nine on the road.

Los Angeles Chargers at Houston Texans

Home underdogs have been making plenty of noise in the early exchanges, going 13-9-1 against the spread through three weeks.

The Texans are among those dark horses to have covered on their own turf and are worth taking with a 5.5-point start against a depleted Chargers team.

Houston are winless at 0-2-1 but have been competitive in each game they've played. Their main weakness is their run defence but that might not be tested too much by a Chargers team who have the worst rushing attack in the league.

LA fell to 1-2 last week with a thumping 38-10 loss at the hands of Jacksonville but perhaps more important than the result, they lost defensive ace Joey Bosa and key offensive lineman Rashawn Slater to serious injuries.

With quarterback Justin Herbert playing with injured ribs, number one receiver Keenan Allen struggling to shake of a hamstring injury and the Chargers missing several more pieces, giving up a touchdown on the handicap looks like a big ask.
