Carolina Panthers +7 at Indianapolis Colts

It has been more than a month since either of these teams won a game, but it could be worth taking Carolina with the handicap points when they clash in Indianapolis.

The Panthers rallied well against Seattle last week to give the NFC West side a major test, and given they lost by just three points to New Orleans three weeks before they are unfortunate to have a lowly 5-9 record.

More than anything, that close defeat to the Seahawks suggests the team are responding to the methods of interim head coach Perry Fewell, with running back Christian McCaffrey in particular looking like his old self. He had 175 total yards and two touchdowns.

Indianapolis were completely outclassed by New Orleans on Monday, with their struggles against the pass highlighted by Drew Brees’ record-breaking 29 completions from 30 attempts.

Carolina quarterback Kyle Allen isn’t quite of that standard but he has been putting up decent yardage totals and could punish the ailing Colts secondary with the assistance of star receiver DJ Moore.

The home team have it in them to put points on the board and the running-back tandem of Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines could be a danger, especially considering Carolina have allowed the most rushing touchdowns this season.

But the Panthers are more than capable of keeping things close and should stay within a touchdown of Indianapolis.

Washington -2.5 v New York Giants

The Giants take on the Redskins with both teams on unimpressive 3-11 records and it may be Washington who come out on top in this NFC East clash.

The hosts have won two of their last four games and impressively gave Green Bay and Philadelphia a decent test in the two defeats that followed.

Rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins looks to have settled into his role well while veteran running back Adrian Peterson has been rolling back the years while rookie Derrius Guice has been sidelined with injuries.

While the Giants have shown plenty of mettle on offence themselves, defence has been their weak point and they have allowed an average of 27 points per game this season.

Given Washington’s recent resurgence in form, they could get one over on their divisional opponents.

Over 37.5 points in Detroit Lions at Denver Broncos

Denver were held to only three points by the Chiefs last week, but that was largely down to the massive snowstorm in Kansas City and they should operate more smoothly on offence against Detroit.

Rookie quarterback Drew Lock had shown promise in his two previous games, throwing five touchdown passes and in particular guiding the Broncos to an impressive 38-24 victory over Houston.

Given how woeful the Lions have been on defence, giving up an average of more than 400 total yards per game, the Broncos are likely to have plenty of opportunities in the passing game as well as on the ground with running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.

Detroit have stalled on offence since quarterback Matthew Stafford was injured, but replacement David Blough has shown at times he can move the chains and the points line could be covered at Mile High.

Jacob Hollister to score a touchdown for Seattle v Arizona

Seahawks tight end Jacob Hollister has had 13 receptions in his last three games, and he could be set to find the end zone against Arizona.

The Cardinals have allowed 15 touchdowns to the position all season, an average of more than one per game, and given Seattle’s strength on offence he is likely to have chances to strike and add a fourth touchdown this season.
