NY Jets to beat Washington (6pm)

It has been a rough season for Washington and the New York Jets, who have only three wins between them, but the visitors can add another much-needed victory.

The Jets defeated their city rivals, the Giants, 34-27 last week in a highly entertaining clash and finally started showing signs of life on offence.

Quarterback Sam Darnold has built a good rapport with wide receiver Jamison Crowder, who has 13 receptions, 164 yards and two touchdowns over the past two weeks.

But the real difference-maker for the Jets has been star safety Jamal Adams, who found the end zone after ripping the ball from Giants quarterback Daniel Jones’s hands. He also forced another fumble and sacked Jones twice.

New York have struggled elsewhere on defence with an array of injuries at linebacker and poor play from cornerbacks, but they are coming up against a team who have scored the fewest points in the league.

Washington have failed to put up a double-digit score in three of their last four games, including a shutout against San Francisco, and despite making it into the red zone more than once against Buffalo last time they could manage only field goals.

Rookie Dwayne Haskins has been announced as their starting quarterback, but he failed to show much in the Bills game. Given the Jets have the second-best run defence in terms of yards allowed, they should be able to account for veteran running back Adrian Peterson and the back-after-injury Derrius Guice to register another win.

Miami Dolphins +7 v Buffalo Bills (6pm)

After looking likely to go winless for the season Miami have won their last two games and they can at least push their AFC East rivals Buffalo.

The Dolphins downed the Jets with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick making a number of clutch throws on third down on his way to three touchdown passes, while last week’s victory over Indianapolis showed their defence is far from flimsy as they made three interceptions.

Buffalo will be keen for the win as they bid to stay on course for the playoffs, but they stalled on offence in their defeat to Cleveland last week.

Strong defence has been their order of play for the most part and although they beat Miami by ten points when the sides met last month, the rejuvenated Dolphins should get closer this time.

Over 13.5 Denver Broncos points v Minnesota Vikings (6pm)

Quarterback Brandon Allen got off to a winning start as Denver beat Cleveland 24-19 last time, and he can get the chains moving again when they face Minnesota.

The Broncos have benefited from their running-back tandem of Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman, who have combined for more than 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns this season, and they should give the Vikings something to think about.

Minnesota have looked vulnerable at times on defence with Kansas City and Dallas putting up decent scores over the past two weeks. Although Denver do not have as much star quality on offence, they should be able to find a couple of scores in Minneapolis.

Brian Hill to score a touchdown in Atlanta at Carolina (6pm)

Devonta Freeman has been ruled out of Atlanta's NFC South clash against Carolina, and with Ito Smith on injured reserve Atlanta will likely look to Brian Hill to carry the ball.

Hill racked up 60 rushing yards last week against New Orleans and found the end zone with his only reception. Carolina have allowed by far the most rushing touchdowns in the league this season (17), and could be vulnerable.
