Game preview

It’s a repeat of the 2018 Super Bowl as then-winners Philadelphia host current champions New England, and a hostile home atmosphere could give the Eagles an edge.

It has been a mixed season for Philadelphia but they remain in contention for the NFC East top spot after big wins over Chicago and Buffalo. Given the defensive merit of those opponents, those victories highlight their strength on offence with running back Jordan Howard beginning to step up.

They are going to need to be on form when they take on a Patriots defence who have been dominant this season – statistically at least. However, they have mostly faced weaker sides and were arguably found out in their 37-20 loss to the Ravens.

New England have struggled to contain the run at times, giving up 100 yards to rushers in two of their last three games, and Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz should pose a threat having thrown a touchdown pass in every game this season.

Philadelphia have won 19 of their last 24 home matches and should be in the mood to put on a show with both teams coming off their bye week.
