It’s been a while since the New York Jets were above the Patriots at the midway point of an NFL season, but New England can prove they remain the superior outfit when these teams meet at MetLife on Sunday.

Bill Belichick has won 12 straight games against the Jets and last season he trounced his former team by an emphatic 79-19 scoring margin across the two games played.

The Pats' offence has been under the microscope this week after falling to the Chicago Bears last Monday, with a quarterback battle occurring between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. Jones will be getting the start in this game, and he looks poised to get the better of New York once again.

Belichick focused his offence on running the ball in recent weeks, which has largely been successful with Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris piling up the yards. The Patriots have chalked up the eighth-most rushing attempts in the league, which should work perfectly against a Jets defence ranking 29th against the run.

As for the New England defence, they struggled to deal with the mobility of Bears QB Justin Fields on Monday, but should face no such problem against Zach Wilson.

The Jets signal-caller has found it difficult to get a real passing game going in New York, instead relying on the run game and their defence to get the wins. However, with star running back Breece Hall now out for the year along with starting offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker, the Jets' offence may struggle even more.

Expect New England to hand the Jets their third defeat of the season.
