Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert gets a chance to take some revenge after the New England Patriots thrashed the Los Angeles Chargers 45-0 last season.

It was by far Herbert’s worst showing in his rookie season and one which he has likely not forgotten. He now has another year under his belt as well as smart head coach. However, the Patriots look worth taking with a decent handicap start for their trip to California.

The main thing standing in the way of Herbert’s revenge is the Chargers’ run defence. There is no worse unit in the NFL on a yards-per-carry basis and that could be troublesome for Los Angeles.

The Patriots are highly likely to attack that weakness, which will cause the clock to run, keeping the ball out of Herbert’s hands.

The Patriots have a rookie quarterback in Mac Jones, but he is a very capable starter and, while his team are 3-4, they have won two of their last three and could at least put up a fight.

This looks likely to be a more competitive game than bookmakers expect, and taking the points with the Patriots is advised. They have hung in with every good team they’ve faced this season and there's no reason why it shouldn't be the same story this time.
