Seven straight wins have pushed New England up to number one seeds in the AFC and they look good value to make it eight in a row against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Patriots made some uncharacteristic moves in the summer, going on a free-agent spending spree, and after a sticky start it has begun to pay dividends.

Quarterback Cam Newton was jettisoned in favour of rookie Mac Jones, who has shown poise beyond his years. Jones has been intercepted just twice in their last seven games after an iffy spell in September and October.

Running back Damien Harris is rated questionable, but he has scored eight TDs in the last eight games and the Pats would likely be just fine with Rhamondre Stevenson as their lead back.

The Colts have improved greatly after a 1-4 start, getting to 7-6 and into the AFC wild-card race, although four of their wins during their current 6-2 run have come against poor teams in the form of the Houston Texans (twice), Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New York Jets.

Running back Jonathan Taylor is their offensive star, but New England's defence leads the league in fewest rushing touchdowns allowed with just six.

Pats head coach Bill Belichick has had a lot of time to prepare for this game due to their bye week and given his track record, coupled with New England's winning run, it's something of a surprise to see them enter this game as two-point underdogs on the spread.

The Patriots have covered the handicap in their last seven games but there's more value to be found in backing them to win outright.
