Match preview

Virginia face a tough task in their first ACC Championship game as they meet the 2018 National Champions Clemson and they are 28.5-point underdogs.

The Virginia Cavaliers’ offence is capable of scoring heavily and they have posted more than 30 points in each of their last four matches, albeit against far lesser opposition.

However, Dabo Swinney’s side are unbeaten in their last 27 matches, and although the quality of their opponents this season has been questioned, they have won dominantly in all bar one match this season.

The Tigers have been led by a stout defence, a unit that has only conceded more than 14 points on one occasion this year, and while capable, it is hard to see this Virginia offence scoring a great deal more than that total here.

Clemson have been electric out of the gates in their matches, scoring an average of 26.7 points and conceding a record low 3.8 first-half points per match.

Through the last five games, Clemson have led at half time by a combined score of 177-14 and another fast start here is to be expected.

Virginia have the potential of scoring in the second half to get close to the handicap line honest, so Clemson on the first-half line looks to be the safest option.

Match preview

The BIG-12 Championship game is a rematch between sixth-ranked Oklahoma and seventh-ranked Baylor, who shared the gridiron just three weeks ago in Texas.

Oklahoma lead the all-time head-to-head 25-3 and clinched victory from the jaws of defeat three weeks ago after rallying from a 31-10 deficit at half-time to prevail 34-31 with 24 unanswered second-half points.

Although they were down by 21 at the half, turnovers were a big reason for the deficit after a fumble and an interception gave Baylor the ball on the Oklahoma six and nine-yard line quickly resulting in two touchdowns.

The Sooners were 10.5-point favourites in that clash, on the road in Texas, and although they didn’t cover the handicap, they did outgain the Bears 525 yards to 307 on offence and remarkably 41:11 to 18:49 in time of possession.

The Sooners outplayed the Bears on the road and despite shooting themselves in the foot, were able to regroup and leave Texas with a victory.

The sides meet a neutral field at AT&T Stadium in Dallas and if the Sooners can protect the ball better this time, Baylor look to be no match for the Jalen Hurts-led offence.
