Drama has followed the Minnesota Vikings wherever they’ve gone this season and shouldn’t be in short supply for the trip to Chicago, despite the short-handed nature of the Bears.

The Vikings have seen 12 of their 13 games this season decided by eight points or less and last week’s outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers was no exception as they held off a late fightback to claim a 36-28 win.

Despite the tight nature of the majority of Minnesota's matches they are expected to brush aside a Bears team who are the latest franchise to be hit by Covid issues, the spread having opened at 3.5 points but ballooned to six points as news of more and more absences has emerged.

That seems like a big number to cover for a Vikings team who have won only twice in seven attempts on the road this season, while they are 1-4 against the spread on their last five visits to their NFC North divisional rivals.

Where the Vikings have been consistent is with putting up points, averaging over 30 a game in their last six outings as running back Dalvin Cook and wide receiver Justin Jefferson have caught fire.

Keeping out opponents has proven a lot tougher, giving up at least 28 points in four straight games and there should be opportunities for an improving Bears offence.

Chicago have scored at least 22 points in the last three games exciting rookie quarterback Justin Fields has finished, most recently putting up 30 in a losing effort at Green Bay.

While the offence is trending up, the once-revered defence, stripped of several starters, is struggling, allowing 29 points or more in five of the last seven and opening the door for the over to land.
