Sunday Night Football features two AFC teams fighting to reach the playoffs as the Miami Dolphins head to California to take on the Los Angeles Chargers.

Miami just fell to San Francisco last week, which was their first defeat this season with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa playing the full game, and they could be set to struggle again.

The Dolphins’ five wins prior to that 49ers defeat came against the Steelers, Lions, Bears, Browns and Texans – all teams with losing records. When the level of competition increased in San Francisco, they lost by 16 despite playing a third-string quarterback in Brock Purdy.

Tagovailoa struggled a lot in that game with some ugly interceptions, and with a banged-up offensive line, the Dolphins could be set for more problems.

Miami also have a few injuries in their secondary, which can open the door for a big game from Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. The third-year QB has continued to play well despite having plenty going against him, and we could see a big game from him and tight end Gerald Everett.

Everett put up 80 yards last week and looks primed for another strong performance against a weak point in the Dolphins’ defence.

The Chargers have pushed plenty of teams close this year, and with postseason hopes on the line, we can expect them to come out fighting. They have a solid chance of winning, but take the three-point start as insurance.
