Match preview

Last week was tough week for the Rams and 49ers, who will both be eager to bounce back at Levi’s Stadium.

San Francisco conceded a couple of last-minute touchdowns to lose to Atlanta and drop down from the top seed to fifth in the NFC playoff picture, while the Rams were pummelled 44-21 by Dallas to all but eliminate them from post-season contention.

The hosts arguably undid the hard work of their win over New Orleans the week before and have no margin for error with a huge game against Seattle coming next week.

However, given their defence has dropped off somewhat in recent weeks, the Rams look more than capable of putting scores on the board.

San Francisco have allowed 25 or more points in five of their last seven games, and in particular eight passing touchdowns in their last three.

While the Rams offence has been unconvincing at times, with last week’s humbling by the Cowboys no exception, they have shown flashes of last season’s brilliance.

If quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley can find a rhythm, they should be able to expose any cracks in the 49ers defence.
