San Francisco's six-game winning run against their NFC West divisional rivals the Los Angeles Rams came to an end last season but normal service should be resumed when the sides meet again.

The 49ers came within a dropped interception of reaching the Super Bowl last January when losing the NFC Championship game 20-17 to the Rams, who would go on to lift the Lombardi trophy.

The reigning champions have made an inauspicious start to their title defence, failing to convince in wins over the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals.

LA quarterback Matthew Stafford is having issues with an injury-hit offensive line, which ranks 28th in pass block efficiency, while he doesn’t have many options to attack with.

The 49ers defence did a good job of limiting Stafford last year and that will only add to the issues of the Rams’ signal-caller. The Niners have a formidable defensive front and enter week four of the season ranked first in fewest yards per play allowed.

The Niners offence, or more specifically quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, did struggle against a really good Denver Broncos defence last Sunday when slipping to their second loss of the season.

However, at home and against an overrated Rams defence, San Francisco’s attack should find more success. The Rams are struggling to create any pressure up front while their secondary continues to be ravaged by injury.

In the same exact spot last year on a Monday night the Niners blew out the Rams 31-10 as four-point underdogs at home and could be ready to record another statement success.
