Match preview
There is no better illustration of the injustice of the NFL playoff race than this fixture.
Last season's Super Bowl runners-up the Rams are in serious danger of missing out on the post-season despite having won eight of their 13 games as they are in the ultra-tough NFC West alongside San Francisco and Seattle. Meanwhile, Dallas have won just six times and have lost their last three games but they could still limp over the line as NFC East champions.
Everyone knows the rules at the start, but the Rams could be excused for reacting to any perceived unfairness by putting the Cowboys in their place in Arlington.
Recent form suggests they are capable of doing that having given themselves hope of gaining a wildcard berth by beating the Seahawks last time out.
They lost to rampant Baltimore 45-7 three weeks ago but that was the only time they have conceded more than 20 points since a 30-29 reverse against Seattle in Week Five.
Dallas look vulnerable, particularly as coach Jason Garrett's future is in doubt and it would not take much for the home fans to turn if things do not go their way.
They lead the league in total and passing yards but the fact they have averaged just 16 points in their last three outings has to be a cause for concern, especially against a decent defence who are hungry to prove a point.
