Match preview

The Kansas City Chiefs looked to have made a leap forward last season under quarterback Patrick Mahomes and after starting the new campaign with four wins, they looked legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

However, two successive defeats at Arrowhead have left questions to be answered and they will be hoping a road trip to one of their AFC West rivals can get them back on track.

The problem is that Mahomes, who possesses arguably the strongest throwing arm in the league, looks to have been troubled by an ankle injury.

It has not been serious enough to threaten his participation but Denver will be keen to take advantage, especially as they shut out Tennessee on Sunday and sacked the Titans' two quarterbacks on seven occasions.

Mahomes will hope to have both Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins at his disposal but he could be in for an uncomfortable evening.

That said, it may still be difficult for the Broncos to make up a three-point handicap as their offence has not been firing.

Much will depend on running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman who will be confident against the league's third-worst rush defence, but a safer course of action may be to stay below the points line as 48.5 looks steep.
