Match preview
New Orleans will be keen to get their push for a playoff bye back on track following their last-second defeat to San Francisco last week and Indianapolis are likely to feel their wrath.
The Saints dropped down to the number three seed with that loss, but the 48-46 scoreline highlights how their offence is still a force to be reckoned with.
They had scored the fifth-most points in the league heading before Week 15 started and have averaged 35 points across their last four games.
Now New Orleans host a Colts team who have fallen out of form at the wrong time. Frank Reich’s side have lost their last three games to fall to a 6-7 record with their playoff hopes all but extinguished.
While their run defence has held up for the most part, containing teams to an average of less than 100 rushing yards per game and allowing only eight rushing touchdowns all season, their passing defence has not been so rigid.
The Colts gave up four passing touchdowns against Tampa Bay last week and two in each of their three previous matches. Considering Drew Brees threw five touchdown passes last week, they face a tall order to contain the Saints quarterback .
Wide receiver Michael Thomas has topped 100 receiving yards in six of his last seven matches and last week had 11 receptions, so should have plenty of chances to find the end zone and get New Orleans back to winning ways.
