Best bet
Houston to beat Denver

Houston can celebrate eclipsing their win tally from the whole of last season but their ambitions to make the playoffs are far more important and they look well placed to do just that.

The Texans have won their last five games to move to the top of the AFC South following slip-ups from rivals Jacksonville and Tennessee and they have a great chance to enhance their claims at Denver.

Three opening defeats now seem distant memories and while their hopes have been hit by key injuries in the last couple of seasons, they are making gradual improvements in every area of the game.

The Broncos look vulnerable. Nine unanswered fourth-quarter points against Kansas City put a gloss on their 30-23 defeat last week and while their opening-week win over Seattle is looking better by the week, their other wins against Arizona and Oakland are far less impressive.

The Denver defence is not living up to reputation as they have conceded at least 20 points in six of their eight matches and no quarterback has had more interceptions than Case Keenum's ten.

Next best
Detroit +5.5

With six teams enjoying a bye week, there are few betting opportunities available, but Detroit may be worth supporting in their NFC North clash with Minnesota.

The Lions have performed well against strong teams this season, beating Green Bay and New England and they should be able to stay competitive.

While receiver Golden Tate has left for Philadelphia, talented quarterback Matthew Stafford still has options in Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay and, as the Vikings look to recover from the disappointment of last week's defeat to New Orleans, they can expect to have to fight all the way.

Best points bet
Over 47.5 in LA Chargers at Seattle

The Chargers and Seattle are in excellent form and there is a good chance the pair can serve up an entertaining clash at CenturyLink Field.

Expectations were not sky high at the Seahawks at the start of the season but they have lost just one of their last five matches and that reverse came against the undefeated LA Rams.

They scored at least 20 points in each of those matches and the Chargers should be delighted with the way their season has gone after five wins from seven games, with defeats against the Rams and 7-1 Kansas City.

They have average 27.9 points per game so there looks a decent chance that the match line of 47.5 can be eclipsed.

Best player bet
DeSean Jackson to score a touchdown

Ryan Fitzpatrick is set to start for Tampa Bay against Carolina after Jameis Winston suffered a stinker against Cincinnati and that could be good news for Bucs receiver DeSean Jackson.

The former Redskin flourished alongside Fitzpatrick at the start of the season when he scored three touchdowns in two matches from nine catches.

It could be that he is targeted again and he has the ability to make his presence felt.
