Game preview

The current top two seeds in the NFC meet on Sunday night and despite their strengths on offence, points could be at a premium at Levi’s Stadium.

San Francisco have had a tough time lately, with an overtime defeat to Seattle sandwiched between two narrow victories over Arizona, and although they leaked an average of 26 points in those three games, defence has been the strength of their team.

They have conceded the fewest points in the NFC and given up the second-fewest yards per game in the league. In addition, they boast the best pass defence in the NFL, and have had more interceptions than they have allowed passing touchdowns.

The 49ers will certainly have their hands full with Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has thrown just two interceptions this season.

But their offence stalled against the Los Angeles Chargers three weeks ago and Rodgers failed to throw a touchdown against the Panthers last time.

Green Bay's defence have not been playing quite at the 49ers' level but they have conceded an average of just under 21 points a game and have the ability to keep it close even if things are not going their way on offence.
