Match preview

Green Bay visit Minnesota with the NFC North title on the line in the final game of NFL Week 16.

The Packers will clinch the division with a victory, which would also keep them on course for a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Vikings are also already assured of at least a wild-card spot but a win at US Bank Stadium would keep their hopes of taking top spot alive.

Green Bay held off a fightback from Minnesota to prevail 21-16 when the teams met in Wisconsin in September, but the Vikings have won all six of their home games this season.

However, with starting running back Dalvin Cook ruled out with a shoulder injury and back-up Alexander Mattison rated questionable as he comes back from an ankle problem, it looks worth backing the Packers with the handicap points.

The visitors go into the game on a three-match winning streak with the defence really starting to regain their form after a mid-season dip. They have allowed 15 points or fewer in those matches, and will head to Minneapolis knowing that pacifying opposing quarterback Kirk Cousins can be a recipe for success.

Packers running back Aaron Jones has scored the second-most touchdowns this season but faces a tall order to break into the end zone with Minnesota having allowed the fewest rushing scores.

But with the threat of quarterback Aaron Rodgers as strong as ever and wide receiver Davante Adams having 103 receiving yards against Chicago last week, the Packers have plenty of options on offence and have the talent to keep things close in this high-stakes clash.
