Game preview
Kansas City improved to 5-2 on the season last Thursday as they demolished Denver 30-6, but the big story was the injury of their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who dislocated his kneecap.
Incredibly the signal-caller was hoping to play in Sunday’s clash with Green Bay after appearing at practice on Wednesday, but head coach Andy Reid admitted that was too ambitious when ruling him out of the game on Friday.
The Chiefs could have done with being at full strength given how well the Packers' defence have played as they stormed to a 6-1 record.
Green Bay thumped Oakland 42-24 last week with quarterback Aaron Rodgers looking as good as ever, throwing for 422 yards and five touchdowns, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him put up those sorts of numbers again given Kansas City’s defensive vulnerability.
However, even without Mahomes the Chiefs still have plenty of firepower, having added an extra 20 points after his injury in the win against Denver.
Matt Moore proved a passable back-up over the years during his time with Miami, and showed why with a nice 56-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill last week, while running back LeSean McCoy still has the ability to give Green Bay’s run defenders something to think about.
The Packers’ last five games have all seen at least 45 points scored, and more can be expected when they enter the hostile atmosphere of Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night.
