Lions at Jets preview

This game was turned on its head on Friday after Jets quarterback Mike White was ruled out, meaning Zach Wilson will be back under centre for New York. Even with that in mind, the Jets still look the team to back in this clash with the Lions.

The Jets have won five of seven matches with Wilson as signal-caller this season even though he was benched two weeks ago, and that period on the sidelines could light a fire in the belly of the second-year QB.

Even if that doesn’t quite happen, the Jets still have enough talent on defence to secure victory.

New York held the Bills’ ferocious offence to a 34 per cent success rate while generating four sacks and 18 pressures on Josh Allen.

Cornerback Sauce Gardner continues to be a revelation, keeping Stefon Diggs completely in check, and it’s hard to see any of Detroit’s receivers having much luck against Gardner.

The Lions have been in great form but Buffalo have been the only half-competent defence that they’ve come up against, and this could be the moment that Detroit are brought back down to Earth.

Meanwhile, the Lions’ defence has been abysmal for much of the season and Jets rookie running back Zonovan Knight has looked excellent since coming in two weeks ago.

Take the Jets to rally behind Wilson and pick up a much-needed win as they look to continue their push for a first playoff appearance in over a decade.
