Game preview

Detroit have been highly impressive in their opening four games this season, and coming off a bye they should be ready to bring the heat to Green Bay at Lambeau Field.

The Lions recorded close wins over the Chargers and Eagles, but they caught the eye most in their 34-30 loss to Super Bowl contenders Kansas City.

Despite some errors in the red zone, their offence continued to move the chains and resulted in Matthew Stafford passing for three touchdowns to complement huge games from running back Kerryon Johnson and wide receiver Kenny Golladay.

Given the level the Chiefs have been playing at, it wasn’t a bad result by any means.

The Lions are dark horses to reach the playoffs but in order to stake that claim they must beat their NFC North rivals Green Bay.

The Packers registered a big win over Dallas last week to go 4-1 with their defence forcing three interceptions by Dak Prescott - and it could have been even more if not for penalties.

Running back Aaron Jones who was the star, scoring four rushing touchdowns while earning a total of 182 yards.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers does not have the weapons he used to enjoy - and top receiver Davante Adams is ruled out this week - but the Green Bay offence still has plenty of bite about it, and Detroit's defence will need to be on top form to keep them contained.

They will, however, be boosted by the return of cornerback Darius Slay and given the way their own offence has operated this season the Lions should keep things competitive.
