The Minnesota Vikings have what it takes to build on their first win of the season last time out when they play host to the Cleveland Browns.

Although they currently hold a 1-2 record, the Vikings could easily be 3-0. For starters, they lost to the Bengals deep into overtime in Week One, largely due to a controversial fumble call on Dalvin Cook, and then in Week Two they went down to the Cardinals when kicker Greg Joseph failed to score a field goal in the dying seconds.

They crushed the Seahawks last week to finally get their first win, but the real story in Minnesota is that Kirk Cousins is quietly playing like one of the best quarterbacks in football. Cousins has thrown eight touchdown passes and zero interceptions in the first three games of the season, and if he can continue like that then he should make hay against the Browns.

Cleveland won’t have the luxury of defending against Justin Fields and an incompetent Bears offence like they did in Week Three, and that dominant win shouldn’t detract from the fact that they were struggling against the Texans seven days earlier before Houston quarterback Tyrod Taylor got injured.

Critics were quick to jump on the Vikings team after their 0-2 start, but they look like they’re getting their act together. With Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen at wideout and Cousins playing like he has been, their offence has sky-high potential.

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t look too impressive last week, but that was hidden by the fact that the Bears couldn’t move the ball.

Back the Vikings to record another win, but take the two points on the handicap as insurance.
