NFL fans tucking into a Thanksgiving Day triple-header will just have to be thankful that they have games to watch and not worry too much about the quality of the teams.

The US holiday action begins with a clash between Chicago and Detroit, who have won three of their 20 combined games this season. The Lions are winless, but have not lost every game as they managed a tie against Pittsburgh two weeks ago.

The 3-7 Bears actually have a longer losing streak as their last win was against the Raiders in Week 5.

One of Chicago’s wins came against Detroit when they faced each other at Soldier Field in Week 4 and the Bears won 24-14. That was rookie QB Justin Fields’ first win as a pro, but the Bears will have Andy Dalton starting against Detroit with Fields nursing injured ribs.

Dalton threw two touchdown passes as the Bears went close to beating Baltimore on Sunday, conceding a decisive TD with 22 seconds left.

QB Tim Boyle didn’t look up to it on his first NFL start for Detroit in Sunday’s 13-10 loss in Cleveland. The Lions are hoping to have Jared Goff back from injury but he has been poor this season. The Browns were dreadful in Sunday’s game but the Lions looked to have totally forgotten how to win.

Dan Campbell’s team had shown plenty of fight in some of their earlier losses but that seems to have gone. Back the Bears to be less bad in an unappetising contest.
